Off Leash K9 Training is the most-loved dog training company serving Angola and Steuben County.
Angola is just under an hour from our training base at 124 Lincoln Hwy W in New Haven, around 49 miles by road. At that distance, a board and train is usually the practical place to start: one drive to drop your dog off and one to pick up. Private obedience lessons are by appointment too, if you would rather learn alongside your dog. Every program and price is on our plans and pricing page.
Why professional training is essential for Angola dog owners
Behavior modification
Address jumping, pulling, barking, anxiety, and reactivity at the root, not just the symptom.
Safety & control
A dog that listens the first time is a safer dog around traffic, livestock, wildlife, and people.
Stronger bond
Clear communication builds trust, so your dog looks to you for direction instead of guessing.
Skills that transfer
We hand the training over to you at pickup, so the obedience keeps working at home.
Family harmony
A calm, well-mannered dog means a calmer home for kids, guests, and other pets alike.
Our dog training programs for Angola dogs

- Daily updates while your dog is with us
Reactive & aggressive dogs
A two-week board and train built for dogs that react to other dogs, animals or people.

Built for how Angola dogs actually live
Angola is the Steuben County seat and the home of Trine University, with Lake James and Crooked Lake close to town and Pokagon State Park about five miles north. For a lot of dogs here, a normal weekend means docks, boats, strangers and water they would very much like to jump in.
Around water, the command that counts is come. A dog that ignores you on the shore can be a long way off before you finish saying its name. Off-leash recall around real distractions is what our 1 Week Freedom Board & Train is built around, and it is the kind of reliability that comes from a dog working with a trainer every day.
In town the problems are more ordinary: pulling on the leash in Angola Commons Park or Firemen's Park, and jumping on visitors at the door. Those are good reasons to book private lessons, where you learn the same come, sit, down, place, heel and off that we teach the dogs, and practice them at home between sessions.
Where your dog will shine
- Lake James
- Crooked Lake
- Pokagon State Park
- Angola Commons Park

Brooke Forsyth-Zeller grew up in the Fort Wayne area and graduated from Northrop High School. Before training full time she spent four years fostering for rescues and placed more than 60 dogs in new homes.
She joined Off Leash K9 Training of Fort Wayne as a trainer, then took over the location. Today she and her team train dogs from across Allen County and Northeast Indiana, and she or one of her trainers is the person you will actually meet.

What our clients say
“We have a three year-old male golden who we have loved so much but his stubborn and ornery tendencies got to be very draining to our family. We trusted Brooke to help us out for a for a two week board and train and our boy came home an entirely different dog in the best way possible.”
“Shadow made amazing progress in just one week. Now the follow-thru is up to us to continue the training with daily practice. Being able to have her off leash is such a blessing.”
“Excellent dog trainers! We are so pleased with the training our bloodhound received that we’re putting our other two dogs through the training.”
Frequently asked questions
How far is your training base from Angola?
Just under an hour. We are at 124 Lincoln Hwy W in New Haven, around 49 miles from Angola by road. Visits are by appointment.
What is the most practical program from Angola?
Usually a board and train, because it means two drives in all, instead of one for every lesson. The 1 Week Freedom Board & Train is $1,400 and the 2 Week Board & Train is $2,500. Both end with a one-on-one handoff session, so you leave knowing how to keep it going. Payment plans are available. Call us today to learn more about payment options.
My dog takes off toward the water every time. Can you help?
That is the kind of thing a reliable come is for. We work on it around real distractions, and off-leash reliability comes through our board and train rather than lessons. No matter how well your dog listens, keep to the posted leash rules wherever you are.
Can we still do lessons if we live in Angola?
Yes. Lessons are by appointment, and we set the location with you when you book. Basic Obedience is four private lessons for $700, and Basic & Advanced Obedience is eight for $1,050. Both include the e-collar and a leash.
How old does my dog have to be?
Our e-collar lessons start at five and a half months. Call us and we will tell you what fits your dog.
