Meet The Off Leash Fort Wayne, IN K9 Team
Chris Coverstone – Owner & Head Trainer
Chris Coverstone is the head trainer of the Northeast Indiana location which is located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Originally born in Ohio, Chris was raised in the small town of Sidney, Ohio where he graduated from Sidney High School in 1993.
Chris grew up having many dogs throughout his upbringing and enjoyed spending time with them and teaching them things.
After high school, Chris became an Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper and the majority of his career he was based out of the Piqua Patrol Post north of Dayton, Ohio. He was later promoted to Sergeant and became a supervisor of a Criminal Patrol Unit which consisted of a team of 4 handlers with narcotic and dual-purpose K-9’s in the southwest Ohio area. After spending just over 28 years serving the citizens of Ohio, Chris retired from the Ohio State Highway Patrol in July of 2022.
Chris’s passion for dogs led him to decide to bring Off Leash K9 Training to Fort Wayne, Indiana and the surrounding area for other people and their pets to receive the same specialized training techniques used by the military and law enforcement. Chris is married to his wife Vonda who is a registered nurse and a son named Derek who lives in Ohio.

leah – Trainer
Leah is a lifelong dog lover and resident of Fort Wayne. Leah grew up with dogs throughout her childhood, and early on, was always learning how to care for and train dogs from a variety of ages and backgrounds.
She spent her teenage years studying different methods of training, as well as canine psychology and behavior.
As an adult, she freelance trained many dogs, and helped dozens of dogs overcome anxiety. She joined Off Leash in 2023, bringing along her 18 years of experience with dogs of all ages, breeds, and sizes.
Leah and her husband Ryan have three children, and their German Shepherd.
Brooke Forsyth-Zeller - Fort Wayne Trainer
For over 4 years now, Brooke has been fostering rescue dogs from all over, and her love for and commitment to them has only grown. Not only has she fostered on her own, she has taken in strays and trained and modified their behavior by showing them they are loved and providing them with a home even if they have never been in one.
Brooke has a fiance, Jason, three grown boys, and many dogs of her own on her 2 acre farmhouse in Harlan.
Amber Plumley - Fort Wayne Trainer
Amber joins the OLK9 team with a passion for dogs. Amber is a Fort Wayne resident and grew up with a love for dogs. Amber started working at a boarding facility about 7 years ago and knew she would always work with dogs.
Amber has been training dogs for 4 years now and can’t wait to work with Off Leash K9 Training clients.
Her favorite thing about training is helping the owners have a better understanding of their beloved pets so the two can have a better relationship.
Amber also enjoys being apart of the YLNI Farmers Markets in the summer, where she sells her handmade Biothane collars and leashes!
Amber has two children, and her Great Dane.
