Off Leash K9 Training is the most-loved dog training company serving Decatur and Adams County.
Decatur is about half an hour from our training base at 124 Lincoln Hwy W in New Haven, around 22 miles by road. That is close enough for weekly private obedience lessons, and close enough that a board and train is one easy drive to drop off and one to pick up. Every program and price is on our plans and pricing page.
Why professional training is essential for Decatur dog owners
Behavior modification
Address jumping, pulling, barking, anxiety, and reactivity at the root, not just the symptom.
Safety & control
A dog that listens the first time is a safer dog around traffic, livestock, wildlife, and people.
Stronger bond
Clear communication builds trust, so your dog looks to you for direction instead of guessing.
Skills that transfer
We hand the training over to you at pickup, so the obedience keeps working at home.
Family harmony
A calm, well-mannered dog means a calmer home for kids, guests, and other pets alike.

- Daily updates while your dog is with us
Reactive & aggressive dogs
A two-week board and train built for dogs that react to other dogs, animals or people.

Built for how Decatur dogs actually live
Decatur is the Adams County seat, a small city with a lot of parks for its size, from Riverside Center Park and Hanna Nuttman Park to Bellmont Pond Park, and the River Greenway along the St. Marys River. It is a great place to walk a dog, as long as the dog is walking with you and not dragging you toward the next squirrel.
Outside town it is open farm country, and that changes what a dog needs to know. A dog that bolts out an open door or ignores you across a yard has more room to get into trouble here than a dog in a subdivision. A reliable come and a solid place command are the two things we put the most work into.
If your dog reacts to other dogs on those walks, the aggressive dog training program is built for exactly that: two weeks of obedience as the foundation, with desensitization to your dog's triggers and a long handoff session at pickup.
Where your dog will shine
- The River Greenway
- Riverside Center Park
- Hanna Nuttman Park
- Bellmont Pond Park
- Open yards and country roads outside town
Brooke Forsyth-Zeller grew up in the Fort Wayne area and graduated from Northrop High School. Before training full time she spent four years fostering for rescues and placed more than 60 dogs in new homes.
She joined Off Leash K9 Training of Fort Wayne as a trainer, then took over the location. Today she and her team train dogs from across Allen County and Northeast Indiana, and she or one of her trainers is the person you will actually meet.

What our clients say
“Before training, our girl would jump on anyone who walked in the house, and would pull so hard on a leash for a walk. … Now, our girl is doing so much better at not jumping on others, responding to her name, and walking on a leash.”
“Brooke did amazing with our girl Ripley! She is a smart (but stubborn) Dutch Shepard puppy. We can tell a huge difference with just the one week board and train.”
“Off Leash K9 Training did an excellent job in training our Shepard/Lab mix puppy. She was a handful before training and a well behaved girl after training.”
Frequently asked questions
How far is your training base from Decatur?
About half an hour. We are at 124 Lincoln Hwy W in New Haven, around 22 miles from Decatur by road, just east of Fort Wayne. Visits are by appointment.
My dog reacts to other dogs on walks. Can you help?
Yes. The 2 Week Aggressive Dog Board & Train is built for reactive and aggressive behavior toward other dogs, animals or people, with everyday obedience as the foundation. Human aggression is assessed by a trainer first, and every dog is evaluated case by case.
Do you come out for lessons, or do we come to you?
Lessons are by appointment, and we set the location with you when you book. We often pick a place your dog has never been, on purpose: a dog that learns to listen somewhere unfamiliar, with real distractions, listens everywhere. See the obedience lessons for what each package covers.
How old does my dog have to be?
Our e-collar lessons start at five and a half months. Call us and we will tell you what fits your dog.
What does training cost, and are payment plans available?
Lessons start at $700 for four private lessons, the 2 Week Board & Train is $2,500, and every program is listed on our plans and pricing page. Payment plans are available. Call us today to learn more about payment options.
