Three Dogs, One Family: Why They Trusted Us With Their Fearful Boys
They did not like the idea of their dogs alone overnight in a kennel for two weeks. Then Brooke called back and explained how it would work.
- Three dogs
- One was a foster
- Trained by Brooke

Where this family started
This family's dogs had fears and anxiety, and they did not know where to go or what to do about it. Filling out our contact form, they wrote, "felt like a shot in the dark."
They also had a worry of their own. Their pets are family, and they did not like the idea of a dog kenneled for two weeks, alone overnight in a facility.
The training journey
Brooke, our owner and head trainer, called them back. She explained that it would not work that way: their dogs would become part of her family for that time. The family called that "HUGE."
Brooke has now worked with three dogs for this family. The first was a foster dog, and she fit him in as soon as she could. Each dog, they wrote, was "its own unique and custom experience," because dogs are individuals, just like people.
What actually changed
- More confident. These were dogs with fears and anxiety. Confidence is the first word the family uses.
- More observant and obedient. They pay attention and they listen.
- More at ease. Calmer dogs, at home and out.
★★★★★
“What can we say about Brooke and Off-Leash? Honestly, an answer to prayer. She's worked with 3 dogs for us, and each was its own unique and custom experience. […] Our pets are our family, so we didn't like the idea of them being kenneled for 2 weeks, alone overnight in a facility. But that's not how they do it. Our dogs would become part of her family for that time! […] So not only does the program work (seriously our boys are all SO much more confident, observant, obedient, and at ease), she gives back to the animal world.”

What it changed for the family
They came back, twice. That says more than anything we could write. The family put it this way: Off Leash K9 Training "helped us in a way I didn't feel was possible."
They were also clear that they have used other trainers and like them. What stood out to them here was a dog living as part of a family, at ease, with a trainer who has the time to work on things an hour-long session cannot reach.
Why this story matters to us
A fearful dog needs to feel safe before it can learn. This family told us that knowing their dogs would live as part of Brooke's household, and not alone overnight in a kennel, is what let them say yes. When a family trusts us with a foster dog first, and then with two more dogs, that means a great deal to us at Off Leash K9 Training of Fort Wayne.
Before and after
One family has brought three dogs to Brooke, the first a foster, for help with fear and anxiety. Each dog became part of her family during the program and came home more confident, observant, obedient and at ease.
