Where Violet started

Violet is a 15 month old Goldendoodle with a lot of love to share. Her family described how she shared it: by jumping on anyone who came to say hi.

She also ran from them. Her owner joked that it was Violet's way of giving the family a workout. And when strangers passed the yard, she ran back and forth along the fence line to let them know she was there, "even when we called her with treats."

The training journey

Violet spent two weeks training with Leah, one of our trainers at Off Leash K9 Training of Fort Wayne. Her family got a text and videos every day, showing her progress and the places Leah took her to practice.

The part her owner noticed most was not about the dog. Leah was patient with Violet, the review says, "but more with us." A dog comes home to the same house and the same people, so the people have to learn their side of it too.

What actually changed

  • She comes the first time. The dog who ran from her family now comes when called.
  • Walks are calm. Her owner calls them amazing: Violet does not pull.
  • No more jumping on people. Guests get a dog with four feet on the floor.
  • She holds a sit around distractions. Her owner says she sits even with things going on around her.

★★★★★

“Violet, our 15 month Goldendoddle completed her 2 week training and man can I say…it was worth every penny! […] She is a changed dog for the better! Our walks are amazing, she doesn’t pull or jump on people, comes the first time and sits while “distractions” are going on around her. Leah the trainer was amazing, she was patient with Violet but more with us in showing us who the pack leaders were.”

What it changed for her family

Violet still loves to be around everyone. That did not change, and nobody wanted it to. What changed is that her family can now take her with them. Her owner put it this way: "now we can't wait to show her the world."

Why Violet's story matters to us

Violet was never a bad dog. She was a friendly, excited young dog nobody had shown how to behave around people yet. That is most of the dogs we meet at Off Leash K9 Training of Fort Wayne, and it is why we spend as much time teaching owners as we do teaching dogs.

Before and after

Violet, a 15 month old Goldendoodle, jumped on visitors, ran from her family and patrolled the fence line. After two weeks with Leah she comes the first time, walks without pulling and keeps four feet on the floor.

Violet trained with us for two weeks. You can read how that works on our board and train page, and every program and price is on our prices page.
